The world of news is changing and PR must change with it. At Mañón Media, we believe in creating news placements that not only grow our clients’ audience and brands but that have a real impact on the community and world around us. Mañón Media challenges the status quo of current news and works with industry game changers and disruptors to put forth new ideas on the environment, data, employment and anti-racism.
We need someone who can understand the power of the media and harness it to make the change we want to see in the world. We’re looking for someone who can make complex information accessible and engaging and work with a variety of people of all backgrounds. We need applicants who can work with different outlets, including target audience and format.
This position will start with just a few clients and then both salary, position & responsibilities + client load increase as the employee is ready. We are ultimately looking to create long-term relationships with both employees and clients. The ideal candidate is someone who is already involved in the news world and ready to help more industry disruptors get the coverage they deserve.
Salary: $24,000/part-time (negotiable)
Hours: Typically 11a-3p (negotiable)
Starts 9/1/2022.

Requirements:
Maintain a high awareness current social issues, events, pop culture and industry trends
Pitch, coordinate and place traditional and online media outlets for a range of both quick hit and in-depth coverage.
Must have at least 3 years of news writing experience. This can include formal press releases, op-eds, articles, blogging etc.
Familiarity with HARO, QWOTED, Cision and other PR tools
Familiarity with Google Drive, Microsoft & Canva
Must be able to write press releases and columns in 3-5 business days
Must care about news accountability and improving journalism
College degree with a major in media or writing preferred but not required
Duties will include:
Strategizing short-term and long-term publicity to grow client’s brand and audience
Very limited crisis communication work and reputation management
Use HARO & other pitching tools to send pitches, press releases and updates
Coordinate schedules and help prepare reporters with interview details, brand information, etc.
Work with Our Stories Matter a weekly pipeline of meaningful community news stories (repurpose content for the pipeline)
Create monthly reports detailing outreach and suggestions for next month’s growth with supervisor
Create 3-5 press releases, columns OR op-eds weekly (about 10-12 pieces per month)
Update spreadsheets and databases with links, articles and placements
Limited social media work as you work with brands’ teams to create organized media plans. You will not be responsible for creating or posting content.
Conducting some interviews and turning into content for both clients and MMM
Monthly meetings with clients and representatives to update recent placements and upcoming strategies.
