National news coverage is an incredible milestone, but if it doesn't align with your long-term goals and mission, it is merely a distraction.

By: MMM Editorial Team
Last month, we focused on how to grow your audience through getting a spot on the national news cycle. It is a very effective way to establish your brand and authority.
However, it is important to keep alignment in mind when agreeing to press appearances.
As a visionary, we know you will eventually be flooded with media requests and opportunities. At MMM, we don't throw our clients at every headline. We use careful consideration to ensure brand growth doesn't come at the cost of your joy or your peace. We firmly believe that if an opportunity does not advance your mission, it is simply a fancy distraction.

MMM's Alignment Questionnaire
Before you say yes to appearing on that podcast or speaking on that panel, ask yourself these three questions to filter out more pointless opportunities:

Does this fit your long-term goals or introduce a new audience?
Both are good, but each factor requires a different approach. For example, if you are a lawyer asked to speak at a tech-focused convention, you are entering a completely new environment. You will need to do work to bridge the gap between your knowledge and your audience to make it more likely they respond to you and take the next step. At MMM, we make sure our clients know exactly what kind of "bandwidth tax" an opportunity requires before they sign on.
Is there funding behind this?
At MMM, we love doing free volunteer work, but we know our clients would not be able to afford our services without some kind of currency exchange. We often recommend and push for newsletters, free advertising, free resources, or capture the content ourselves if no pay is available but the opportunity exposes the client to a worthwhile audience or customer segment.
If nobody knew you did this, would it still matter?
In a society where social media views are one of the most important factors, we make sure to prioritize fulfillment. For many of our clients, authenticity is more important than likes and virality. We want to ensure that your work is real and impactful, not just a performance for the algorithm.
Sometimes, the most aligned brand growth is not the viral Instagram post. It could be inviting your favorite author for a meet-and-greet or securing a spot at a big industry conference. Aligned growth will bring you peace because it allows you to stay true to your mission and who you are.
Prioritize Joy
Our goal is not to make you famous but to ensure your audience grows and your impact is deepened. When your PR strategy is in alignment, the work feels lighter because it’s headed exactly where you wanted to go.
