Beyond short-term fundraising, Rochester's dedicated non-profit is scaling donor engagement and storytelling to champion housing, education, and economic equity statewide.

Establishing sustainable long-term support is a key operational challenge for many nonprofits across the nation. Organizations are always trying to work through seasonal lulls and fluctuating event calendars, making it incredibly difficult for them to maintain continuous outreach and consistent donor stewardship year-round.

Ibero is the premier nonprofit organization serving Hispanic, Latino, and underserved communities across New York State, and they are tackling this challenge head-on. Instead of relying on event traffic, the agency is completely changing its development framework to focus on narrative and financial infrastructure. In order to do this, they are prioritizing infrastructure that requires good stories so people know what mission Ibero is truly supporting.

A Vision for Statewide Impact

Ibero's vision spans across five areas designed to create social and economic progress: social and economic progress, housing, entrepreneurship, education, and health. Through these pillars, the organization addresses systemic disparities while expanding its footprint beyond Rochester into regions such as Montgomery and Albany County.

Key initiatives driving this mission include:

  1. Housing development and Policy: Partnering with the Ibero-American Development Corporation and the Latinx Leaders Roundtable to draft community-driven proposals and increase low-income housing stock.

  2. Economic Equity and Local Business: Directly supporting regional entrepreneurs to ensure community spending is reinvested into the local economy.

  3. Statewide Engagement: Hosting signature hybrid events, like the annual State of the Latino Community Luncheon, to bring civil leaders, state partners, and local advocates from across Upstate New York together.

Supporting Their Mission:

Realizing long-term community transformation needs broad partner alignment and clear messaging. For organizations to elevate underserved populations, they must build sustainable infrastructure that depends on authentic storytelling to clearly demonstrate the return on investment and mission impact.

To support their mission, supporters can make a direct contribution on Ibero's website and become partners. Another important way people can actively help is by creating pathways to employment by hiring from the communities Ibero serves.
