Local organizations and the community at large should expect more from students and schools and then give them the tools and resources necessary for achievement. That's according to READY founder Shanai Lee, who penned an op-ed in the Rochester Beacon.
READY is also behind several actions, including an online quality schools finder resource, a Parent ACTION Academy and several efforts to attract and retain teachers of color.
Lee said while poverty is an issue, too often it's conflated with a bigger issue of underinvestment and low standards.
