Three members of Media 2070, an advocacy project dedicated to realizing media reparations, wrote a compelling op-ed about how the journalism industry can build anti-racist newsrooms.
Collette Watson, director of the Media 2070 project, Diamond Hardiman, program manager for Free Press, and Venneikia Williams, campaign manager for Media 2070, all contributed to the op-ed, incorporating statistics and historical facts about America's appalling treatment of Black journalists and newspapers. They also included a call to action, imploring media organizations to sign Media 2070's Newsroom Pledge to Care for Black Journalists and Communities. For those not part of a media organization, you can sign the petition urging newsrooms to sign the care pledge here.
