CurAte Expands, Now Highlights Buffalo Restaurants As Well

The local organization has spent the past two years highlighting #ROC eateries and is now shining a spotlight on Buffalo too.

CurAte is hosting its first event in Buffalo, NY later this month.

The organization partners with local restaurants to offer customers a surprise meal, helping residents try new foods without the guesswork of potentially confusing menus, customs and languages.

The next surprise dinner takes place Sept 29th with pick-up at Nowhere Lounge on 3115 Delaware Ave. The meal isn't vegan, vegetarian or gluten-free but that's all customers know until they pick it up.

"CurAte is excited to expand our operations to Buffalo," said Chris Lindstrom, co-founder of CurAte. "Most of our team members have roots in the area and it is an exciting opportunity to work with a new group of small, mostly minority-owned restaurants and learn more about the food that makes Buffalo tick. Both Rochester and Buffalo have a diverse range of restaurants that can benefit from more support and need to become better known to the wider community and CurAte is going to help do that one event at a time."

So far, CurAte is quickly growing and, just last month, announced a partnership with Three Heads Brewing as the new Rochester pick-up spot.

Part of that growth is due to just how easy they make trying new foods.

"We basically do the work for you," said Brandon Vulaj, co-founder of CurAte. "We work with unique restaurants to find a delicious meal so you don't have to go searching or browsing through menus you're unsure of. Our goal is to make trying new foods less daunting and a lot more fun because you're more likely to try it if you're going in without any preconceived notions. We've served more than 800 meals already and we've run over 34 events since January 2021, so we know it's working."

The restaurants are also happy to be a part of the service. CurAte doesn't charge any fees or require contracts and they focus on offering the meals earlier in the week when eateries are traditionally not as busy and could use the extra income.

"It truly is a win-win-win," Vulaj said.
