Roc Native, Brittany Rumph, Helps Open Only All-Girls Elementary School in Monroe County

Brittany Rumph, a long-time educator and RCSD alum, is now the co-founder of the Innova Girls Academy Charter School, located in Rochester, NY.

Rumph's passion for knowledge and philanthropy inspired her to partner with Lindsay Swanson, co-founder of Innova, to create a tuition-free charter school for girls that shapes them into strong leaders and exceptional problem solvers. Innova focuses on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics), and the school's partnership with the Girls Scouts ensures girls have the opportunity for hands-on experiences that stimulate their minds and promote creativity.

"We created this school in partnership with our Rochester community because of the state of education in Rochester and to ensure parents have a choice," said Rumph. "There are three all-boys schools in Rochester and only one all-girls school, and it's at a high school level. We noticed the lack of opportunities for girls to see themselves as problem solvers and leaders, so we want to empower the girls of Rochester."

The Innova Girls Academy Charter School opens its doors in August 2023 and is an extended day-and-year institution. The charter school application opens on December 1st, 2022, with the lottery taking place on April 11th, 2023.
