[Placement] One Year Later, Community Continues to Fight for Justice for Daniel Prude

Across the nation, activists, organizations and legislators are fighting to end a long history of abuse at the hands of police. In Rochester, NY, Free the People hosted a community update on the one-year anniversary since the public learned about the death of Daniel Prude. Prude was murdered during a response to a mental health crisis call, but officials didn't share this until months later.


"Small incremental steps is not the answer," said activist Ashley Gantt. "We want large steps immediately, and we want the police defunded by 50% so that we can ensure that the necessary steps that need to be taken are being taken."
